Freelance Writing For Piedmont Parent

April 26th, 2013

Piedmont Parent welcome submissions from freelance writers for their magazine and website.

They publish several feature articles on a variety of topics. Features require thorough research (citing a minimum of three reliable sources), knowledge of our audience, and concise interviewing and writing skills. Their print magazine publishes features related to its monthly themes.

They prefer articles and essays with local relevancy. Word counts for articles vary from 500 to 1,200 words. If you wish to query the editor, please include a story outline and previously published writing samples.

Fees vary depending on the length and depth of the story. Typically, they pay between $35 and $110 per story. Writers are paid by the end of the publication month.

If interested, submit your articles/queries to: Myra Wright, General Manager & Editor

Articles should be e-mailed as Microsoft Word documents. Please include author’s name, address and daytime phone number on the first page of the story. Include the word count with the article. Writers should be familiar with AP style. We also use Webster’s New World Dictionary. The editor reserves the right to edit for clarity, length and style. If major revisions are needed, you will be contacted.

Accompanying photographs (along with written permission) are welcome. They accept digital photos at a minimum of 300 dpi.
