Hosting A USAI International Student

March 15th, 2013

USAImmersion (USAI), a New York not-for-profit educational organization, is looking for host families in the North East interested in hosting an international student this summer for 3 or 4 weeks. Students come from Europe, they are 13 to 17 years old, have an intermediate level of English and are expected to share all aspects of their cultural background with their host families. They bring their own pocket money and they are fully insured.

Host families can be single parent households, empty-nesters, couples with no children, and families with small children or teenagers. Families are asked to treat students like members of their own families and involve them in all home activities and chores. Most importantly, they are expected to provide a stable, caring environment.

Families receive a food and transportation stipend of $500 for a 3 week program and $600 for four weeks. Families can host 2 students from different nationalities at the same time, so compensation in this case can range from $1,000 to $1,200 for 3 or 4 weeks.
