The Animal Relocation Manager will work in the Animal Relocation Initiative on all efforts aimed at increasing adoptions and decreasing euthanasia nationwide through animal relocation and transport. Incumbent will be responsible for the management and operations of projects and resources that expand capacity of relocation efforts. Manager will monitor all activities related to assigned projects and track progress and budget. Incumbent will be directly responsible for safe, efficient and humane relocation and short and long distance transport of animals. Position is responsible for keeping projects on target to ensure goals are reached and for applicable sections of the Strategic Plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute all aspects of relocation projects in the Northeast US, and other areas as assigned
  • Direct management and execution of transports in northeast including: partner relationships, animal readiness, documentation and proper transport, vehicle oversight, transport, animal handling, transport schedule, routes, emergency preparedness, etc.
  • Responsible for the purchasing and proper maintenance of program assets
  • Assist with the identification and management of projects where ASPCA Relocation can expand capacity of relocation efforts (e.g. summits, State or regional team member, facility or equipment opportunities, etc.).
  • As relevant, create SOPs and detailed written summary of projects to allow for duplication in other areas of the country.
  • Promote ASPCA tools to expand national relocation efforts (e.g. MAP, PRO, etc.).
  • Serve as main contact person for assigned projects. Participate in selection process of partner agencies. Visit agencies as needed to ensure understanding of expectations for project/s and positive relationships are established.
  • Act as a liaison between source and destination partners to encourage communication and transparency
  • Maintain regular communication with the project agencies, Relocation Team, and other ASPCA departments with vested interest in the project/s.
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings, in-person and remote, in order to keep all participants informed, motivated, and encouraged.
  • Research and prepare materials for reports and metrics. Give presentations as needed.
  • Research best practices, industry standards, sustainability concepts, and other information for submission to the Relo Library. Make recommendations, provide summaries and/or detailed reports of findings as required.
  • Maintain updated project information in Salesforce.
  • Solicit and provide stories and pictures of transported animals. As requested, write stories for Facebook, ASPCA blogs, newsletters, etc. and submit to the appropriate ASPCA departments.
  • Participate in Strategic planning process and cross departmental projects as assigned.
  • Support all other department activities which will contribute to the advancement and success of the team and the ASPCA as identified by supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years successful project/program management and team leader experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in animal sheltering and animal handling
  • Minimum 2 years experience in database management and administrative duties
  • Minimum 2 year of experience with animal relocation
